At New Purpose, we are on a mission to eradicate poverty in America, one life and one community at a time. Our approach is holistic, compassionate, and deeply rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a fair chance to succeed. We focus on empowering college students from marginalized communities, equipping them with the tools, resources, and support they need to overcome barriers and achieve their dreams. But our work doesn’t stop there. We also engage in systemic advocacy, striving to change the structures that perpetuate poverty and inequality.
Our work is guided by the legacy of leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and civil rights icon Eugene “Gus” Newport. Dr. Kevin A. Brown’s book, And the Beat Goes On, written during the COVID-19 pandemic, reflects this commitment to justice, equity, and community-building. Endorsed by Dr. Teresa Cordova, Roy Alston, and Dr. Maurice Hobson, the book emphasizes the importance of restoring a sense of beloved community for lasting change.
We are dedicated to transparency in our operations and finances, ensuring that our supporters can trust that their contributions are making a genuine impact.
Implement and advocate for programs that reduce poverty rates in marginalized communities, creating pathways out of poverty for those who need it most.
Build a network of 1,000 new community leaders and activists each year through workshops, training, and collaborative initiatives that foster unity and resilience.
Lead successful campaigns for policy changes at the local, state, and federal levels that address economic inequality and promote social justice.
Our organization truly believes that by working together, we can
save more lives than ever before.
We envision a world where poverty no longer exists, where every person has access to the resources, education, and opportunities needed to live a life of dignity and purpose.
